Heritage Park Creation Fund

Presenting the past for our children's future

Outdoor Attractions

The layout of Heritage Park will be in the shape of the state of Michigan.  Features of the park will represent different localities such as:

• A mini Meijer Garden in Grand Rapids.

• A statue of ‘Tony the Tiger’ in Battle Creek.

• A coast guard museum in Grand Haven.

• A grove of fruit trees in Fruitport.

• A ring of tulips will mark Holland.

• A log ride will be near Muskegon.

• Batting cages filled with Tiger memorabilia will mark Detroit

• In St. Louis will be an elegant 3 story carousel known as the Michigan Titan.       (See below)

• The Saginaw Bay  area will be marked by a waterpark thrill area.

• There will be a mini Mackinaw Bridge that takes you to the Upper Peninsula.

In the water that represents Lake Erie, there will be a remote control boat rental.  You will be able to guide your boat up the Detroit River to Lake St. Clair.  There will also be 18 holes of miniture golf designed after the south course of the Oakland Hills Country Club.  Go-carts, a Ferris wheel, antique auto ride and a Tilt-a-Whirl will fill out the outdoor ride attractions.

Further "north" in the park will be the Lake Houghton water spray area.  The rest of this area will be filled with pine, ash, birch and other native trees and will be for picnics. A simulated beach area will represent the Lake Huron  shore.

Across "the mini-Mac" bridge in the Upper Peninsula, will be the Keewanaw Mining Experience.
